USCIS announced today that the initial H-1B cap registrations for the FY2022 annual quota (or cap) will open on March 9th, 2021.
U.S. employers and their legal representatives can start filing registrations at noon Eastern Standard Time (EST) on March 9th. USCIS will accept registrations until noon EST on March 25th, 2021.
If enough registrations are received by March 25th, USCIS will randomly select registrations and send selection notifications via users’ myUSCIS online accounts.
USCIS intends to notify account holders about selected registrations by March 31st.
Important Dates: H-1B Registration Process Timeline for FY2022
- March 9th: H-1B registration period opens at noon ET.
- March 25th: H-1B registration period closes at noon ET.
- March 31st : Date by which USCIS intends to notify selected registrants.
- April 1st: The earliest date that FY 2022 H-1B cap-subject petitions may be filed.
As announced yesterday, the final rule creating a wage-based selection process for H-1B registrations will not go into effect until December 31, 2021. USCIS will continue to apply the current regulations (random selection) to any registration period that takes place before December 31, 2021.
